The Wave Project Scotland is a mental health charity for children offering surfing courses to help them overcome challenges in their lives. We welcome young people from 8-18 years along to the beach for 6 consecutive weeks to spend time 1:1 with a surf mentor on the sand and in the water! We provide a safe, positive environment where all are welcomed and encouraged to try new skills and meet new people.

After the six weeks our new surfers are invited to join our surf club (phase 2)  Here they can widen their social circle meeting new volunteers, surfers and progress their own surf skills too. Some of our surfers become young volunteers (phase 3) and come back to help our new surfers which is lovely to see and rewarding for all.

A nationwide charity since 2010 our Scottish project started in Belhaven, Dunbar in 2014. Last year, 2020 we piloted and ran 6 successful courses in St Andrews Fife. It’s an amazing charity where the best of people come together as one big family to change children’s lives and it has real impact.
